John Kenny has taken over as president of the Norwich Circle of the Catenians Association.

At their April meeting, held at the Norfolk Club, Mr Kenny was installed as the new president taking over from Roger Hayes.

During his year in office Mr Kenny hopes to encourage the practice of having regular after dinner speakers before starting this off by giving a speech on the history of the breath test which was introduced during the 1970s when he was promoted to sergeant serving in Notting Hill Police station in London.

At the end of the evening Mr Kenny gave Mr Hayes a breath test which fortunately came out negative as Mr Kenny had been offered a lift home from Mr Hayes.

The Catenians are a brotherhood of Catholic layman who are committed to their faith, their families and to those in need. The group was started in Manchester in 1908 by Louis Casartelli before spreading across the UK.
