The family of a Sprowston cyclist who died in a road accident early last month have released a new photograph of the 21-year-old with his son in a new appeal for witnesses.

Sam Crisp suffered fatal head injuries when his bike collided with a white Vauxhall Corsa in Sprowston Road during evening rush hour on Thursday, May 3, just yards from his house in Templemere.

His cousin Lisa Warner said the family had been overwhelmed by the messages of support received since the death of her 'happy-go-lucky' relative, but she urged witnesses to the crash to contact police.

She said: 'Sam's mother and all the family really need answers about the events leading up to such a terrible tragedy, the loss of one of the loveliest, caring, happy young men I have ever had the pleasure to know.'

The former Hewett School pupil, who worked at the Menzies warehouse in the west of Norwich, was a loving father to son Riley and a Norwich City fan whose passion was socialising with his friends.

He had just moved into a house in Templemere with his mother the week before the tragedy.

As reported, police and paramedics were called to the crash, close to the traffic lights, at 5.15pm. Mr Crisp was treated at the scene before being taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, but died later that night.

Norfolk coroner William Armstrong has opened and adjourned an inquest into Mr Crisp's death.

Friends paid tribute to Mr Crisp in the Evening News and said he would be remembered for his 'infectious smile' and the twinkle in his eye.

Police are asking for information about a red Peugeot seen at the scene. Any witnesses to the collision should contact Wymondham Road Policing Unit on 101.
