New all-weather pitch plans for Wymondham’s Kett’s Park get the go ahead
A new artificial grass pitch is to be built at Wymondham’s Kett’s Park.
South Norfolk Council’s development management committee voted unanimously at a meeting in Long Stratton on Thursday to build the full-sized pitch at the Harts Farm Road.
The pitch will be built south of the existing buildings and tennis courts. Six 15 metre high masts for floodlights will also be built so games can continue after dark.
It is hoped the bulk of the £780,000 project will be funded by a Football Foundation grant.
The new pitch will follow the construction of a similar, but smaller, 3G in Long Stratton, which was officially opened on January 12.
The project will also include the erection of ball-stop fencing, hard standing areas for pedestrians, goal storage and spectator viewing space.
The pitch could be used for football, tennis and rugby as well as other sports.
