Nazi graffiti daubed on wndows of derelict factory in Chatham Street: picture submitted

Nazi graffiti has been daubed on the windows of a derelict factory in central Norwich, and it could be up there for some time as the owner of the property cannot be traced.

The graffiti was discovered in Chatham Street, off Sussex Street, and was discussed at a meeting of the St Augustine’s Community Together Residents’ Association this week.

The association’s chairman Stuart McLaren said: “I don’t know exactly when it happened but vandals broke into the former Quality Foam Products warehouse off Sussex Street, which has been left empty and partly roofless for several years, and have smashed it up and daubed swastikas on several of the windows facing Chatham Street. I believe this should be regarded as a hate crime, but I don’t know what can be done about it, because the building’s owner cannot be traced.”

Planning permission to build 17 luxury flats and town houses on the site was granted in 2009.
