Hungate Medieval Art, based at St Peter Hungate Church in Princes Street, is looking for 100 people or businesses to donate £100 each to help support four displays at the church.

Those who pledge £100 will see their company logo on an angel, designed by intern Amy Higgins who is studying for a degree in illustration at Norwich University of the Arts.

Emily Pierson-Webber, who has been an intern at Hungate Art since October, said: “For each £100 donation we will be filling a square of our angel, with a company logo or name, to create a unique piece of art which we will be exhibiting in the entrance to Hungate and on our website.

“We are trying to get the local community more involved.”

The theme of angels runs through the church with cherub faces adorning the stained glass windows and the beams in the roof.

Mrs Pierson-Webber, who is studying for a masters degree in cultural heritage and museum studies at the University of East Anglia, added: “We have got four exhibitions this year and this is the first time we have launched a big fund-raising campaign.

“It’s a lovely way to help keep Norfolk’s heritage alive and a real testament to community spirit.”

Hungate Art, which is a registered charity and is run by a team of trustees, was formed in 2008 and the church is open on weekends from March until November.

Exhibitions this year include the Evolution of Angels, Operations of the Sun, Wings on High and Anti-angels.
