North Norfolk organisers of a charity panto with a difference, in memory of a young mum, have issued a desperate plea for a musician to help.
Friends and family of Claire Macpherson have given themselves 48 hours to rehearse their version of Jack and The Beanstalk, which will be staged in Worstead Village Hall on February 2.
Ms Macpherson, who had lived in the village and nearby Honing, died after a two-year battle with breast cancer, aged 39, last May. She left two young sons - Charlie, 13, and Josh, nine.
She had also been a long-term sufferer from bipolar disorder and panto proceeds will be shared between the charities Bipolar UK, and Marie Curie Cancer Care, and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital’s breast cancer care fund.
The script is written, the panto has been cast, cake-bakers have come forward to provide supplies - but the team badly needs a guitarist or pianist to make it go with a swing.
Ms Macpherson who worked as a receptionist at Rossi’s Leisure, in North Walsham, had loved amateur dramatics and had taken part in a number of village shows, according to her mum, Lindsey Macpherson.
When her daughter’s bipolar disorder made her feel “high”, she had “lived life at 1,000 miles an hour and had enough energy to plough north Norfolk,” volunteering as a leader with North Walsham Beavers, and at Worstead School, raising money for charities and face-painting at community events.
A very popular member of the local community, friends have set up an In Claire’s Spirit Facebook page to raise money in her memory.
A race night held at Rossi’s in October was a sell-out.
Panto rehearsals will take place in Honing Village Hall on January 30 and February 1, with a final run-through in Worstead Village Hall on February 2 before two performances there at 4pm and 7pm.
Tickets cost £4, children under four free, available from The White Lady pub, Worstead, Worstead School, and Rossi’s Leisure.
