Cornelius Sullivan, 49, from Romford, Essex, was last seen on Monday, December 9 but bank records showed he withdrew money from Tesco in Victoria, Road, Diss on December 11.

Mr Sullivan’s father and brother were in Norfolk handing out leaflets and looking for information during the weekend, and a Facebook page set up to try to find him said this morning that Mr Sullivan, known as Con, had been found in the town.

“We have found Con,” it said. “The police phoned us at 1.40am and said that an off duty officer found him in his van.”

According to the page, Mr Sullivan has now arrived home, but was “very low”.

It thanked all those who had helped in the search, and added: “Tomorrow will be the beginning of a new chapter to get the medical help and support that he needs.

“Finding Con is the best Christmas present ever and all of our prayers have been answered.”

His sister-in-law, Jeanette Smith, had said Mr Sullivan suffered from depression and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
