Emergency services were called today after reports that a man was struggling in the water after attempting to rescue his dog off the north Norfolk coast.
The man waded into the sea to rescue his pet at West Runton, near Cromer, at about 12.20pm, an East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said.
The man, who was aged about 30, was treated by paramedics from the ambulance service, and the Yarmouth coastguard was also called.
An ambulance spokesman said the man was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
The dog and the man’s wife, who had also briefly entered the water, were reported to be safe and well.
