A man appeared in court this morning charged with assaulting an 86-year-old blind man in Great Yarmouth at the weekend.
David Day, of North Quay, Great Yarmouth, was arrested after the victim was allegedly attacked with his own white stick in an unprovoked attack in St Nicholas Road just after 3.15pm on Saturday.
The 86-year-old man suffered two cuts to his face.
Day, 45, who offered no plea at the initial hearing, is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and with being drunk and disorderly in St Nicholas Road.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Yarmouth Magistrates Court again on November 7.
