Man punched to the floor on Great Yarmouth pier assault

A man suffered injuries to his jaw and eyes when he was punched to the ground in Great Yarmouth.

Police are appealing witnesses following an assault on Britannia Pier, Marine Parade, between 2am and 2.30am on Sunday, May 4. A 24-year-old victim was leaving the pier with a friend after an evening out when they came across a group of people who appeared to be involved in an altercation.

As the victim approached the group a man punched him in the face causing him to fall to the floor. Five people, three women aged 21, 37 and 26 and two men aged 26 and 30 and all from the local area, have been arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail pending further enquiries.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident. They are asked to contact PC Craig Bean at Norfolk Constabulary on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
