Nathan Arnold, of HMP Norwich, but previously of Howard Street North, was sentenced to six years in prison, with an extended licence period of three years, at Norwich Crown Court today after previously pleading guilty to robbery.

At approximately 2:50am on Sunday, March 16, a 15 year old girl was walking along Beatty Close in Great Yarmouth, when she was approached by Arnold who hit her with a metal pole several times before later stealing her mobile phone.

Detective Constable Riki Chase, who led the investigation into the assault, welcomed the sentencing saying: “This was a shocking act of violence on a young girl that caused her significant injury and distress. These incidents are rare and I feel the gravity of the incident is mirrored in the sentence that Arnold has received as this type of behaviour simply cannot be tolerated.”
