The 45-year-old victim was found inside a house in Springfield Road, Gorleston, on February 4, suffering serious head injuries.

He remains a critical condition at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridgeshire.

A 43-year-old man from the Lowestoft area has now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being questioned by detectives.

A police spokesman said all parties involved are known to one another.

Officers carried out extra patrols following the incident.

Emergency services had been called to an end of terrace property in Springfield Road at around 2.30am following concerns for the safety of a man.

Inside, they found the victim with serious head injuries. The house was cordoned off and forensics teams called in as the investigation went on.

At the time neighbours said they were surprised by the incident as it was a normally quiet and “tranquil” street.
