Paul Gigg, 30, of Chinook, Highwoods, Colchester, Essex, appeared at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court charged with two counts of rape.

The alleged offences happened at the Vauxhall Holiday Park in Acle New Road, between 12.30am and 1.30am on Saturday, October 20, during the three-day Kiss Weekender event.

Gigg, a chef in Colchester, appeared in court and spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth. No pleas were entered.

He was committed to appear at Norwich Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, October 31.

Conditional bail was granted but the Crown Prosecution Service made an application to appeal that decision, meaning he will be remanded in custody for a further 48 hours to allow that appeal to be heard.

He has been in custody since his arrest on Tuesday.

If bail is granted to Gigg, he will have to report to a police station every day, will not be allowed to enter Norfolk or Suffolk until trial and will be under a strict curfew.
