A man who died in a collision with a Royal Mail van last month has been identified as Stephen Hubbard, of Hemsby.

The 62 year old had been travelling towards Holt in a grey Nissan Navara while the red Royal Mail van had been travelling towards Norwich when they collided at Shortthorn Road in Stratton Strawless just before 6am on September 29.

The crash happened near the junction with Holt Road.

Mr Hubbard was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Royal Mail van suffered minor injuries. He was discharged from the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital the next day.

The road was closed for five hours while emergency services dealt with the incident and accident investigators carried out their work.

Norfolk police appealed for anyone who saw the crash, or anyone with information about the way the vehicles were being driven beforehand, to contact them.

The opening of the inquest into Mr Hubbard's death heard this morning the cause of death had been head injuries sustained in the crash. The full inquest will be heard at 10am on February 27 next year.

Witnesses should contact Norfolk police on 101.
