Live review: “My phone sprang to life with gig-goers raving about the ‘best band’ of the festival” - Vuvuvultures at Norwich Sound and Vision

St Margarets Church became a cinema for the evening, with silent movies sound-tracked by live bands – including the eerily beautiful strings of Horses Brawl against a harvest in black and white.
But sat on a pew, my phone sprang to life with gig-goers further up St Benedicts Street raving about the “best band” of the festival on Twitter – who they were watching at Norwich Arts Centre.
After the performance at St Margarets Church I decided to investigate, and caught the last three songs of cult band Vuvuvultures. Waif-like lead singer Harmony Boucher was throwing herself around the stage with a distorted hard rock sound the canvas on which her soaring vocals were painted. The east London quartet – formed last year – have already gained cult status with warehouse shows and their VVV logo. And as seen with their Norwich performance, word is spreading quickly. 9/10
