The sign put up by Norwich City Council says ‘The lily pond has been fenced as a precaution while the health of the fish is investigated. No fish are to be moved into or out of the pond unless authorised. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.’

It comes about three weeks after claims were made that dogs had been poisoned in the popular Norwich park.

Those claims were however quashed by police, who urged anyone with evidence of poisoning to come forward.

Stories circulating on social media have reported incidents of poisonings at Eaton Park, but police said no actual incidents had been reported.

However, one dog-walker, who did not wish to be named, said her bull mastiff died after eating poison during a walk in Eaton Park.

  • Ar ya reet boi? - It says nothing about fish being poisoned, just that the checks come six weeks after the dog allegations, no connection implied whatsoever. They are two different stories as far as I can tell. Also, some mobile users don't download pictures as they use up data allowance and there are blind people who use text to audio readers so need any text to be repeated in words.

  • What gave them the idea that the fish could possibly have been poisoned, were any dead ones floating about in the pond? Any why does the article have to repeat the warning that everyone can read for themselves from the photograph? Just a thought.
