When you think of the contents of a multi-storey car park, chances are the types of things that spring to mind are pillars, ramps and - of course - cars.

Rose Lane car park in Norwich city centre has all of these - however it will soon also have another, less obvious feature.

Norwich's most recently-built multi-storey will soon become the home to a brand new laser tag arena, after councillors gave the project the go-ahead.

A licensing application had been submitted to Norwich City Council for a laser tag venue called Labyrinth, which will be nestled within an unused unit attached to the car park.

Submitted in February, the application has now received the approval of the council's licensing team, meaning the vision will become a reality.

The arena will include a 154m/sq mezzanine floor to provide the laser tag facility and will also have an associated café and reception area.

The venue would have space to accommodate birthday parties of up to 30 guests and would also have a small film lounge with a seating area and large television.

Labyrinth would open seven days a week, with opening times of 8am until 11pm.

The arena is one of two new attractions to be moving into the site, with live action puzzle venue Cryptic Escape this week revealing it will be adding three new games rooms on the level above.

Stefan Gurney, executive director of Norwich Business Improvement District, said both new attractions would add to the overall appeal of the city centre.

He said: 'From our perspective it is great to see these types of attractions and it shows how if you have a unique idea you can grow it as a business.

'I think over the past 10 years the way people are using the city has changed - they look more for the experience than just simply shopping and both of these add to the experience on offer.

'When people come here they want to get the best value of experience they can and this will add to what Norwich already has to offer.'
