The heavens opened over Norwich today as the city experienced torrential downpours.
The heavy showers have been interchangeable with sunshine - but forecasters have confirmed that the rain will clear by late afternoon.
Duty forecaster Steve Western at Weatherquest said today’s “unsettled” weather is the last we will see in the city for a while.
He said over the weekend we will have “fine, dry and bright” days, with highs of 24 degrees.

A few decades ago most of the reporters at what is now Archant would have been aware of the significance of weather such as today's in the last week of August and would not have been trivial about it. After the wettest summer in 100 years and a very dry spring some farmers are still trying to get a hay crop for winter stock feed and some cereal crops are rather late and yet to be harvested. Wind and rain will knock grain out of the ears, flatten the corn and delay harvest until the weather dries up again. All leading to reduced yields.Since this year cereal crops in the USA and the Ukraine have been adversely affected by severe weather an untroubled harvest might have been hoped for. We really deserve better than Archant is churning out these days.

I choose to drive home from work on Yarmouth Road instead of the A47. I soaked some poor cyclist with a wave from a puddle that went higher than my car. affected the cyclists day more than mine!

Did you hear about the Southern bypass.? It seems it got washed away, and finished up between Beccles and Diss according to a report by Ann Onimus!

It's awful. I've suffered terribly. My house near the river has flooded and washed away, along with all my furniture and my husband Bertie. He's probably in Yarmouth now :( *shakes fist at sky*

My plastic duck floated away down St Stephens, I fear he ended up under the number 10 bus :(

Got a bit wet but it's doing a lot of good to the garden, so pleased to see it after August's three weeks of hot and dry weather.
