By day he’s a web developer and by night an astronomer, capturing the sky with a telescope and an iPhone.

Nathan Lisgo, 34, discovered he could take stunning photographs of celestial wonders with the everyday gadget after a friend offered-up an unwanted telescope.

Now the dad of three has snapped some of the universe’s most stunning objects from the garage at his home in Costessey.

From the supermoon on Sunday night, to Jupiter and the rings of Saturn, Mr Lisgo has captured them all using a 48-times zoom.

“I just put the iPhone up to the telescope and got amazing results,” he said.

He first snapped the moon – putting the camera eye of his phone against the eyepiece – in October last year.

“The first time I captured the sky it was a magical, ‘wow’ moment. I have no formal experience, I just acquired a telescope and have been observing the planets ever since.”

Now his whole family are becoming avid stargazers, getting up all hours of the day and night to catch a glimpse of the solar system up close.

“The iPhone became my eye. It’s magical and a joy to be able to transfer it to other people,” he said. “Taking the picture means I can share it with friends and family. They can come and experience it as well.”
