Today’s hot weather looks set to continue across the region into the weekend, with temperatures expected to be higher than in the South of France.

On Friday, Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire can expect to experience one of the hottest days of the year - upwards of 29C - with a predicted 28C in Nice on the French Riviera.

But although the forecast looks like a scorcher, it will also be humid, with a risk of thunderstorms from Friday into Saturday.

“Tomorrow will be a dry day with sunshine and temperatures of about 26C to 27C in places away from the coast,” said Chris Bell, forecaster from Weatherquest in Norwich.

“It will be dry tomorrow night, with a potential for a few showers to develop on Friday morning, mainly in Cambridgeshire and more western parts of the region. It’s going to be very hot and humid after that, with temperatures upwards of 29 degrees.”

Those looking forward to this weekend’s Latitude Festival should be prepared for possible thunderstorms from Friday into Saturday and again on Saturday afternoon.

It will feel a bit fresher on Sunday, with temperatures cooling to about 25C and some showers.

“It’s a hot and humid Friday and Saturday in particular, with the potential for some rain and thunder.”

  • And as normal the Met Office just 12 hours ago forecast a day of thunder and lightning for Friday and Saturday. Just enough to scare the tourist off, before they have now changed their mind and very little rain for N. Norfolk. The Met Office couldn't forecast a f**t in a bake bean factory

  • Very unusual weather conditions this year, heavy rain a few weeks ago and now very high temperatures, a sign of climate change I am sure
