Speciality breads, continental cheeses and freshly grilled herring were all on offer at Great Yarmouth's Easter food fair.

The 'Food Feaster' organised by Great Yarmouth Borough Council saw a handful of stalls set up in the Market Place today with a range of tasty treats on offer.

May Copland, of Gorleston High Street's Copland Bakery, sold out of hot cross buns and kept the customers satisfied with Easter cakes and a range of speciality breads.

She said the family firm, which has been going for more than 40 years, started baking for the festival at 6.30pm on Wednesday.

'We have a permanent stall on the market here but it's nice to highlight what else we offer,' she said.

'We'll sell hundreds of hot cross buns this weekend. I think people are tired of picking up the same old sliced bread from supermarkets and once they try something that's much tastier, they tend to come back and try more.'

Sam Tate from the Norfolk Sausage Company, based within Yarmouth's Lacons Brewery, was making her debut at the town's Easter food festival, selling a range of locally sourced hot dogs.

Meanwhile Rob Lovett and Andy Anderson, who usually run clothes and shoe stalls on Yarmouth's regular market, turned their hand to cooking for the Feaster, selling herring rolls that harked back to the seaside town's 19th century traditions.

'It's all locally sourced,' said Mr Lovett.

'The herring are from Nichols Fish and the buns are from the Copland Bakery stall - and it's all delicious.'

Yarmouth is currently gearing up for its annual Easter Fair when funfair rides, food stalls and other attractions will pack in to the Market Place and draw thousands of people into the town centre.

The fair runs from Thursday, April 24 to Sunday, April 27.
