Residents have demanded Norfolk County Council close the slip lane at the busy Clenchwarton Road junction since it was built last year as part of a £55,000 improvement project.

Campaigners reported an increased number of crashes at the site, near the East Coast Business Park, as a result of the changes and warn that near-misses are still occurring as frequently as once an hour.

The council’s decision follows the installation of a CCTV camera at the junction earlier this month, with footage confirming the true extent of the problem.

A spokesman said: “Given the near misses shown by the CCTV camera, we have taken immediate steps to arrange for the closure and some associated changes to road markings.”
