Lifeboats from Caister, Hemsby and Happisburgh launched to help dive boat in trouble off the east coast.

Crews were paged just after 12.20pm today after the boat Thetford Diver, out at sea between Winterton and Hemsby, sent a mayday distress call.

A spokesman for the HM Coastguard said: “We received a mayday call from a dive boat that was sinking and requesting immediate assistance. There was six people on board. The RAF helicopter from Wattisham was overhead incase anyone needed lifting up.”

The divers have have been taken back to shore by the lifeboats and were met at Sea Palling by ambulance crew in case any medical treatment was needed.
