The air ambulance was called after a man in his 80s collapsed and went into cardiac arrest at Waitrose supermarket in Eaton, Norwich, at about 4.20pm today.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: 'The man's heart stopped beating and paramedics gave CPR. His heart started again and he was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital by land ambulance, accompanied by the critical care doctor from the air ambulance.'
His condition was described as life-threatening.
