Thomas Henning was last seen leaving his home in Takeley, Essex on Thursday and it is believed he may have headed to Great Yarmouth.

He left his home at 9am and went to the local post office before boarding a bus having earlier told his family he was going for a haircut.

Enquiries reveal that he did not have an appointment and he did not got to any barber shop.

The 87-year-old has dementia and lives with his son and family, who are concerned for his safety.

Police believe he has travelled to Colchester and then to Ipswich railway station, with a view to going to Great Yarmouth where he used to spend his wedding anniversaries with his wife.

Mr Henning is described as white, has a thick Scottish accent, is approximately 5ft 8ins tall and was last seen wearing black trainers, a blue coat, blue jeans and a cream baseball cap.

Anyone who sees him is urged to contact police immediately on 999.
