A community event has shown how a group of volunteers is bringing nature into the city.
Today’s Nature in the Grapes Hill Community Garden event in Norwich included a seed swap, plant sale and homemade cakes, but for many the live birds were the highlight.
Fran Ellington, secretary of the group, said: “It was a real success. There was a great atmosphere. The people who came and visited really enjoyed the owls and birds of prey. That was a real crowd pleaser.
“It was lovely that people just turned up and played music. We had a really nice crowd all day long.”
The garden group hopes to attract new and regular visitors to the garden, now in its third year.
Volunteers regularly help out on Sunday afternoons and the group is keen to share gardening skills with the wider public. The garden is not-for-profit, and run by and for the community by volunteers.
