The village, near Attleborough, played host to its ninth annual teddy bear festival during July. There were 90 bears on display in the village during the fortnight which raised £5,300.

The proceeds were distributed amongst their chosen causes for 2012. East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices received £1,500, St James Church was given £1,000 and the Great Ellingham Recreation Centre was awarded £1,500, of which £500 is to go towards their new playground fund.

Smaller grants ranging between £400 and £100 were presented to village groups including the Scouts, Brownies, Pre-School and Under 5s groups, Friends of Great Ellingham School, the cricket club and Rocklands Football Club.
