A cat charity has issued an urgent appeal to farm, stable or smallholding owners or those who understand feral cats and their needs.
As well as rehoming stray cats, Cats Protection Anglia Coastal runs a trap/neuter/return programme to help control colonies of feral cats. These colonies of semi-wild cats generally originate from one stray, homeless female cat.
This cat will have kittens but with lack of food and shelter many kittens do not survive, those that do with no human contact, grow up feral.
Cats Protection trap these cats, neuter them and release them back in the same location. Sometimes new locations need to be found.
So long as they are fed daily they may learn to trust the person feeding them so although living in a barn may eventually approach “their human”.
If you are able to offer food and shelter to one, two or more of these cats in return for them helping keep rodents away email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Lorraine on 07973 671275.
