The annual lantern walk through Norwich brought a German tradition to the city this weekend.

The procession of families moved from Chantry Hall to Chapelfield Gardens and back again on Saturday evening.

Organised by children's group Hansel und Gretel, the event encourages the city's German families and many others to take part and help mark the tradition of St Martin.

Bernd Rechel, one of the organisers of the walk, said: 'The lantern walk is always our annual highlight.

'The children really enjoy walking around with their colourful hand-crafted lanterns and singing German songs based around the story of Saint Martin.'

St Martin's Day is one of the most popular saint's days in Germany.
