The Assembly House played host to a Great British Garden party yesterday to mark the Queen’s jubilee in Norwich.

The courtyard was filled with arts and craft stalls, a raffle, Morris dancers and family games.

Families were enjoying the sunshine in traditional British style, with drinks of Pimms and a hog roast.

Katie Elizabeth Aldous, 26, owns the company Bantam, and had a stall selling her handmade wedding fascinators and bunting.

She said: “I feel strangely patriotic and have really enjoyed being at the rooms today.”

As well as arts and crafts, the on-site gallery, Noverre, opened it’s latest exhibition, Queen and Country, showcasing all that it means to be British.

Christabelle Morrison, from Norwich, described the Assembly House party as a “fabulous” way of drawing people into “such a beautiful place, with delicious cake”.

Mum-of-three, Vicky Leamon, 36 from Sprowston, said: “It’s lovely to be here and great fun for the kids.”

Her nephew, six-year-old Tyler Leamon also from Sprowston, was enjoying the outside games. He said: “It’s a really fun party but it’s also about the Queen and her jubilee.”
