Due to a speed restriction over defective track between Manor Park and Ilford, trains have to run at reduced speed on some lines towards Shenfield, Southend Victoria and Chelmsford, Greater Anglia said.

Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Meanwhile, the derailed freight train is still causing major disruption between Bury St Edmunds and Peterborough.

The last 11 wagons on the 33-wagon train came off the track causing major damage to both tracks just to the west of the Ely North junction on Tuesday afternoon.

Engineers from Network Rail spent Tuesday starting to move the train, but that is likely to take several days. Greater Anglia have now pushed back the expected time it will finish to the end of Monday (August 21), from this Saturday.
