There will be free admission to Strangers' Hall and Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell from July 24 until August 5.

There will also be free entry to Museum of Norwich this Thursday to see demonstrations from 11am until 12.30pm and from 2pm until 3.30pm of a 19th century Jacquard Loom,

The free entry days follow on from the success of a similar event last year to mark the 700th anniversary of the Freemen of Norwich.

'Norwich has a great and proud history and we are keen to encourage the public to find out more about the city and their heritage by visiting these wonderful museums for free,' said Nigel Back, chairman of the Freemen's Committee and Norwich Freemen Charity.

Curator Jenny Caynes said: 'The free days last year broke all records during that particular fortnight for the Museum of Norwich and Strangers' Hall; the most outstanding feature for us was the number of new visitors to the museums, and how much they enjoyed what we have to offer. Many people were also return visitors who had not been since they were children. We are so grateful to the Norwich Freemen Charity for supporting us again.'

Strangers' Hall is open Wednesday to Friday 10am-4pm and Sunday 1pm–4.30pm and Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am-4.30pm.
