A former homeless man from Norwich has had his life turned around and has now been honoured at The Prince’s Trust and TK Maxx Celebrate Success Awards.

Bradley Bebbington, 20, was named runner up for the Delta Airlines Rising Star award at a red carpet ceremony hosted by Ant & Dec this evening.

After an unstable and abusive childhood, Bradley fell out with his family and left home. With no money the 20-year-old spent most of his nights wandering the streets until the morning, waiting for the occasional time a friend could offer him a sofa to sleep on.

A promised job didn’t materialise and it was then that Mr Bebbington took part in our Make Your Mark programme, delivered by Marks and Spencer.

Slowly, he began to believe in himself again and his confidence grew. His determination to succeed shone through and he was offered a temporary contract as soon as he completed the course. The programme enabled Mr Bebbington to learn to be independent. He has flourished with the company and is now a full-time, permanent member of staff.

He says, “It’s been a fantastic experience. The Prince’s Trust has helped me so much and I’m really looking to the future. Thank you to everyone for their support.”

Nat Pieper, Delta’s Senior Vice President Europe, Middle East, Africa and India, said, “To be shortlisted for such a prestigious national award is an achievement in itself. All three nominees have done incredibly well and should be very proud of how far they have come. Bradley is a truly inspirational young man and we have no doubt that he will continue to succeed.”

HRH The Prince of Wales, founder and President of The Prince’s Trust, also attended the event, alongside Claudia Winkleman, Emilia Fox, Gemma Arterton, Phillip Schofield and Nick Grimshaw.

Philip Schofield said, “I’ve been an ambassador for The Prince’s Trust for many years and I am always blown away by the resilience and willpower shown by the young people The Trust supports. I always enjoy the Celebrate Success awards, which proves to us all what can be achieved with a little helping hand and a lot of hard work.”
