While the 1980s might feel like a distant memory to many, a new retro festival hopes to transport audiences back in time for a weekend.

Reload Festival, which will be held at the Norfolk Showground in Costessey, will make its debut in Norwich later this year.

The two-day event, which will be held on September 6 and 7, will include performances from well-known names and tribute acts, as well as a variety of other family friendly entertainment.

Saturday’s main stage line-up will include a UK exclusive performance by Kool and the Gang, along with appearances from Soul II Soul, Rick Astley and Hot Chocolate.

The Human League, Billy Ocean and Jason Donovan will be among the artists entertaining audiences on Sunday.

A second stage will feature a host of DJs playing hits from decades gone by.

Stilt walkers, trapeze artists and a silent disco will be on site to entertain festival goers.

Partygoers are encouraged to rifle through their wardrobes to find discarded flares, platforms and legwarmers, although fashion from the decades is not essential.

Festival fans will be able to make use of the full camping facilities on site, with family camping and glamping options available.

Dion Clements, Reload Festival spokesperson, said: “Reload represents the rare opportunity to enjoy live performances from a large number of top UK and international retro acts delivering the live soundtrack of a generation, an entire weekend of huge hits and a fun experience.”

Early bird tickets, which range from £16 to £90, will be on sale from 10am on Friday March 21 until 10am Friday April 4, when normal priced tickets, from £18 to £99, will go on sale.

  • That headline - "Flares, platforms and shoulder pads". Then I read further and saw a whole load of bands from the '80's. I'm confused because flares and platforms were vogue in the '70's. Is this sloppy journalism or are the organisers uninformed?
