Flooding can cause problems for our cousins in the animal kingdom too - as firefighters found out when they were called to rescue pigs from a flooded field.

The two animals were stranded in a field off Griffin Lane in Thorpe St Andrew at around 4.30pm.

Crews from Urban Search and Rescue, Sprowston and Hethersett attended the scene, and had to deploy an inflatable boat to reach the pigs.

A spokesman for Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said that the pigs were recovered safely and handed back to their owner.
