Fire crews tackle blaze in hay field by Hethersett

Thick smoke engulfed a field this afternoon as around 20 firefighters tackled a hay fire in Hethersett.

The fire service was called at around 1pm to the field off Little Melton Road near the Brooks factory site.

It is thought the fire was caused by sparks coming from electricity cables and landing in the field.

Three appliances were called to the field with crews coming from Hethersett, Earlham and Wymondham.

Hose reel jets and hydrant were used to put the fire out.
