Two Cromer fire crews and police were called to the town centre in blustery conditions early this morning after a member of the public reported that a building had partially collapsed in Jetty Street.

Firefighters discovered that material had fallen from a first-floor bay window of number seven and spent about 25 minutes making the scene safe, using working-at-height equipment.

Police closed the road for a time and cordoned-off the affected area, reporting the problem to North Norfolk District Council (NNDC).

An NNDC spokesman said the council’s environmental protection team had attended the scene.

He added: “There was a partial collapse of the render below the bay window.

NNDC staff have contacted the owner of the building who is organising repairs. We will be monitoring the condition of the building over the next few days whilst repairs are undertaken.”
