Kevin Thurston bought the 42inch HD television, with the help of his company Easy PDQ, after his son received treatment at the hospital last year.

Six-year-old Kingsley Thurston went to the hospital in September for squint surgery.

Mr Thurston said: “I try and do something once a year for the children’s ward. When my son was being cared for at the hospital I thought they could do with a better television for the children visiting the day procedure unit. I hope that future patients will benefit from the unit having it.”

The television is going to be placed on the wall in Lion Ward and will benefit all day case children coming in for minor operations.

Jemma Alexander, assistant practitioner in paediatrics from the day procedure unit, said the donation would help make a real difference for patients coming to the ward at the hospital in Colney.
