Members of an explorer scout unit are gearing up for an abseiling challenge to raise funds for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.
The Hunter Force Explorer group, who meet in Frettenham, are taking on the challenge of abseiling the height of the three peaks in just 38 hours on April 12 and 13.
The abseil will take place at five Kingswood Activity Centres, starting at Overstrand and finishing in North Wales - a total of 524 miles - and will see the group of 15 to 18 year olds abseiling a combined total of 3,407 metres down the climbing walls.
The group have decided to use this challenge to raise vital funds for EACH to support local life threatened children and their families.
Francesca Kelly, unit leader, said: “The youngsters were keen to undertake something that challenged them personally and at the same time raised money for a local charity. They decided on EACH because they liked the idea of young people helping other young people”
Rose Peasgood, Norfolk fundraiser for EACH, added: “I really admire the individuals from the Hunter Force Explorer Scout Unit, not only for taking on such a big challenge but also for the responsibility they are undertaking by organising the event and actively raising money for EACH.”
