Young mathematicians go head-to-head at county-wide challenge
Young mathematicians from around Norfolk went head to head with their peers at a problem-solving challenge.
This year’s Norfolk Maths Challenge saw more than 100 pupils from 25 schools around the county gather at Langley Preparatory School at Taverham Hall last Thursday and Friday.
The two-day event was organised by former teacher Douglas Buchanan, who puts on similar challenges around the country, and this year saw a record number of schools getting involved.
Children, put into teams, tackled a range of challenges, with a winning pair in both year five and year six awarded prizes.
The hosting school said the challenge was a “chance to celebrate the achievements of those who may not necessarily be in the limelight in other areas of school life” and an opportunity to “share good practice” between different schools.
The puzzles and problems were tailored for both younger and older pupils.
