A lecture at the UEA will reveal the secrets behind the BBC's Frozen Planet.

A free public lecture at the UEA will offer a sneak peak behind the scenes – and under the ice – on the BBC wildlife series Frozen Planet.

Scientist and television director Dr Elizabeth White will discuss her work on the programme at the University of East Anglia on Tuesday evening.

She will discuss how and why the series was made and explain the training the crew must undergo before they begin filming under the Antarctic ice.

After gaining her zoology PhD, Dr White worked on the David Attenborough series Blue Planet before joining the BBC Natural History unit.

She is appearing as part of the Challenger Society for Marine Sciences’ biennial conference at the UEA from September 3-6, which aims to further research and education and foster debate. The lecture is at 7pm on Tuesday. Attendance must be registered by emailing by noon on Monday.

See public-lecture for more details.
