More than 150 students will learn how to tackle bullying at an event being hosted at Aylsham next week.

The town's high school, which has had an award-winning Friendly Faces team dealing with the issue since 2001, will be the venue for a training session to share top tips to stop bullying in schools and communities.

Youngsters will be trained to be anti-bullying ambassadors armed with an action plan.

They will explore the issue of bullying, both on and offline, network with other young people, exchange ideas and receive top tips on how to stop bullying.

Schools attending the session next Wednesday are: Aylsham High School, George White Junior School, Buxton Primary School, Corpusty Primary School, Bure Valley Junior School from Aylsham, Long Stratton High School, Costessey Junior School, Acle Academy, Cromer Academy and Archbishop Sancroft at Harleston.

Kirsty Connor from Aylsham High School said they were proud to host the event, to share and gain new ideas, and to enable others schools to extend their anti-bullying programmes.

The Diana Award runs the Anti-Bullying Ambassadors programme, a nationwide peer led initiative with over 16,000 trained Ambassadors in more than 2,000 schools across England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Channel Islands and the United Emirates.

Alex Holmes, head of Anti-Bullying Campaign says: 'As a former victim of bullying I know how isolated and unhappy a young person can feel when they are being targeted and I am passionate about helping these people.

'The Anti-Bullying Ambassadors programme gives young people the confidence to stand together against bullies and support one another.

'We give Ambassadors the skills and tools to successfully spread the message - bullying will not be tolerated.'
