A festival of the arts, design and media which embraces contemporary art, illustration, textiles and film is set to showcase years of work by some of the most creative minds in Norwich.

Highlights of the Norwich University of the Arts' degree shows, which last year attracted more than 10,000 visitors, include illustration student Ellen Rockell's three dimensional drawn re-imagining of the cover of Jonathan Coe's novel What A Carve Up, which won the Adult Prize in the Penguin Random House Design Awards.

Playable demos from the Games Art and Design course include work which is in the running for a Bafta Games Award, while a selection of outfits from NUA's cat walk show will also be on show.

Joseph Ewin, a BA Graphic Communication student who won the university's Nic Hughes Award, said: 'I'm quite multidisciplinary. I do a bit of sound design, sculpture, typography and print, so the degree shows will give me opportunities to meet people, network a little bit, get opinions on my work and see where I fit.'

Davide Lakshmanasamy, a BA Fine Art student, said: 'My work is all to do with the materials - just putting them in play and how they work with each other. I follow wabi-sabi, an old Japanese belief which appreciates the constant cycle of decay, of a material breaking back down through its elements.

'The degree shows are my chance to show what I'm capable of and further my practice in the professional world.'

Much of the work on display will be for sale, including items starting at £5 in the sale room, a shopping space where visitors can browse priced items.

• The shows open on Wednesday, July 2, and will be open every day from 10am (11am Sunday) until Tuesday, July 8.
