Norwich School has unveiled the new Blake Studio which will seat just under 200 people and provide a drama, plenary and lecture space. It will also be available for other schools, charities and groups to hire.

Matilda Ziegler, director in residence, said: “It’s wonderful for the pupils at the school to have a bigger space and to be able to perform and rehearse in a proper theatre environment. Not only will there be opportunities for dance and drama but there are many pupils who are interested in learning the technical side of theatre and the new studio will give them the chance to sit in a box and actually work on lights and sound.”

The opening of the studio was celebrated with a special showcase featuring about 100 pupils. Highlights included performances from the Senior Jazz Band and the Close Harmony Choir, dance duets and a barber shop quartet.
