Thousands of students will celebrate the start of a new chapter this week as they graduate from university.

Roughly 4,500 University of East Anglia students will graduate during the week, with ceremonies held, for the first time, at Carrow Road in Norwich.

Among them will be Serafina Chan, who was seriously injured in a car accident five days before she was due to move to Norwich.

The accident left her unable to walk, but she was given a red mobility scooter by the university’s disability support team to help her get around.

Serafina, from Singapore, said: “My entire university experience has been a roller coaster ride of emotions with big lows, but even bigger highs.”
She said she would have been unable to make it through her degree without the support from the university.

She is due to graduate with a BSc Occupational Therapy and is currently applying for roles as an NHS occupational therapist.
