Fans of the sci-fi programme Doctor Who have every reason to materialise in Lowestoft later this month to watch the latest incarnation of the time traveller make his full debut on the big screen.
On Saturday, August 23 the Marina Theatre will be among hundreds of venues around the world that will be screening Peter Capaldi’s debut as The Doctor in a story called Deep Breath.
It will be shown at the same time as the programme is broadcast on BBC One.
But the Lowestoft screening is also expected to feature extra behind the scenes footage and a Q & A session for the programme’s cast and crew.
Set in Victorian London, Deep Breath, reunites the newly regenerated Doctor and his companion Clara, played by Jenna Coleman, with series regulars and fan favourites, Madame Vastra, Jenny and Strax.
Peter Capaldi is the twelfth Doctor and he replaced Matt Smith as the Time Lord from Gallifrey in last November’s story The Time of the Doctor.
A spokesperson for the Marina said: “We are delighted to confirm we will be joining other major cinemas to present the new Doctor Who episode.
The substantial investment made in new digital projection equipment here at the Marina will provide a unique opportunity for Doctor Who fans to see the broadcast on one of the area’s biggest cinema screens.”
Tickets for the Lowestoft screening go on sale from 11am on Friday and cost £10 adults or £9 for concessions and theatre friends.
Doors open at 7pm for the screening.
Tickets are available from the Marina’s box office on 01502 533200 and from the venue’s website at www.marinatheatre.co.uk
