The thaw in Diss is under way after snow showers overnight produced another 2 or 3cms of snow on top of the covering that had remained on the ground since Sunday.
Main roads, including Victoria Road and Roydon Road, have been gritted and are clear of snow, with traffic moving freely, though some side roads remain skiddy thanks to slush.
However, weather conditions have improved with the sun out and milder weather expected to spread in from the west overnight.

I enjoy these fascinating little insights into everyday life in the sleepy little town of Diss as it rubs its eyes and stumbles into the twentieth century. The melting of the snow must have been a major setback, betokening as it does a frenzied burst of activity disturbing its well-deserved tranquility.

This is the second article of this nature about Diss and the recent weather. Why it is deemed worthy of reporting, when the situation in Diss is no different to the rest of the county is beyond me. Come on EDP, you can do better than this!
