A former world champion and world record holder will be the star attraction when the Norfolk Cycling Show returns for a second year.

Graeme Obree – nicknamed the Flying Scotsman – twice broke the world hour record and was crowned individual pursuit world champion in 1993 and 1995.

He will be appearing at the Norfolk Cycle Show on Sunday, April 6, when he will participate in a Q&A session, bring his record-breaking ‘Beastie’ bike, take part in a charity ride and judge a Bling My Bike competition.

Last year’s debut show attracted thousands of cycling enthusiasts to the Forum, and this year’s expanded event includes a fundraising ride around Chapelfield Gardens, a mountain bike track, bike fixing courses and even a bike-powered robot, as well as exhibitors including Norfolk cycle shops and suppliers.

Organiser Luke Rumbelow, of Revolution Events, said: “After the success of last year, we wanted to make this year even bigger and better. We have a great line-up of special guests and activities going on throughout the day and this year we are raising funds for Norfolk and Norwich Scope Association and Ronald McDonald House Charities.”

He added: “It really is an opportunity for beginners to pro cyclists, as well as families to embrace all that is good with cycling in Norfolk.

“Cycling is for everyone and we want to make it as accessible as possible.”

Cycling author Rick Robson and national time trial record holder Michael Hutchinson will also appear.

The Norfolk Cycle Show runs from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, April 6. Entry is free; entry for the charity ride is £2.
