People will have the opportunity to improve their bicycle security this weekend.
Officers from the Watton Safer Neighbourhood Team will be holding a cycle marking event in the town between 2pm and 3pm at Tesco in Thetford Road on Saturday.
Cycle marking acts as a deterrent to thieves by making it harder for them to sell on and it also helps the police to identify it if stolen and then later recovered.
Cyclists can take simple steps to help protect their property, including using a lock, preferably a “D-bar” with “Sold Secure” status, to secure the bike stand, wheel rim and frame together; Never leaving a cycle unlocked in a public place; Entering a bike’s serial number on the national property register www.immobilise.com.
