A civilian member of staff at Wayland Prison charged in connection with drug offences after a stop and search at the prison has had his case sent to Norwich Crown Court.
Duane Lee Parker , 39, of Silfield Avenue, Wymondham, was arrested following an incident at the prison on March 13, where Subutex, an opioid Class A drug, was found.
Parker, who appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court, is charged with misconduct in a public place, money laundering, possession of cannabis, possession of a psychoactive substance (NPS) with intent to supply and conveyance of a prohibited article into a prison.
Parker, who was smartly dressed in a dark suit, spoke only to confirm his name. He did not enter any pleas.
Andrew Nickerson, prosecuting, said that his case would have to be sent to the crown court.
District judge Paul Booty sent the case to the crown court for a further hearing on October 13.
Parker was given conditional bail on the basis that he is excluded from all prison grounds.
